MEDIA STATEMENT - Dr Sharif Fattah

Dr Sharif Fattah has recently been convicted in Australia on a number of sexual offending charges involving female patients. The offending occurred in early 2016.

We want to assure the public that Dr Fattah is not able to practise as a doctor in New Zealand and has not since 31 August 2016. Public safety is paramount to the Medical Council and is our primary focus.

Dr Fattah practised as a GP in New Zealand between March 2004 and August 2016.

We recommend contacting your GP in the first instance if you are concerned about the care or treatment that has been provided to you so that they can review the care provided to you.

The Health and Disability Commissioner looks after all notifications about the care and treatment that has been provided to you.
